The Suzette Winters
Molecular Modeling Program
Friends and Family Share Their Memories and Tributes

We got to know Suzette and Jeff quite well as we shared grandparenting to Maelyn and Blake. Suzette was a joy to be around! We loved her, her rich energy and infectious laugh. We admired her warmth, charisma and loving care for our grandchildren. We could only hope to keep up with the grandkids as well as she did! There is only one Suzette. She will live forever in our memory.
We love and miss you Suzette!

I join you all in mourning the passing of Suzette Winters, a beautiful, gentle, ever-thoughtful woman, who was the beloved wife of Jeff, the treasured mom of Monica and Kate, and the adored grandmother of Audrey, Henry, Blake, and Maelyn.
The most prominent feature of my friendship with Suzette was the purity of her soul being abundantly evident in every conversation we had. She never said a cross word; she was never impatient or irritated. Suzette was always upbeat and brought out the best in everyone--and that's a miracle in today's high pressure world!
Adjectives describing Suzette are very much the same from her friends hailing from all walks of life--"the sweetest," "the most considerate," "absolutely beloved by everyone," "a true friend," "a wonderful role model," and "the perfect mentor."
Suzette's level of physical fitness exhausted me. When she would recount what she had done in any given day--for example, doubles tennis followed by nine holes of golf, or nine holes of golf following doubles tennis--I was bowled over. That level of activity would sideline most people, but not Suzette, who was the very definition of an energizer bunny.
In every conversation my friends and I had with her, one topic always, always came up: Suzette's endless love for Jeff, Kate, Monica, her son-in-laws, and Audrey, Henry, Blake, and Maelyn. Getting to know Jeff, Monica, and Kate--and seeing photos of the entire Winters family at various outings and on vacations--was a joy. Suzette radiated unbridled joy in each of those family photos.
Suzette always cared about friends of hers who were ill and needed care. She was a fan of science and progress--across the board--helping people deal with life's challenges. In honor of Suzette's admiration for science and progress, we are proud to have "The Suzette Winters Molecular Modeling Program" at ICAN. Molecular modeling involves computational biology, drug development, molecular pathology, and supercomputers. We are working with teams across the country on diseases where understanding protein-drug interactions via supercomputers might lead to cures--no matter what disease.
We love you, Suzette, and we will never forget you.
